Application areas
1. Tile Adhesive and Bonding Agents
- Function: As a water-retaining agent and thickener, it prevents rapid water absorption by the substrate during construction, avoids shrinkage and cracking of the adhesive, and enhances the thixotropy of the slurry (making it less likely to slide down when applied to walls).
- Dosage: Typically added at 0.2%–0.5% (based on the weight of powder materials) to improve the slip resistance and bonding strength during tile installation.
2. Putty Powder and Plastering Mortar
- Function: Improves the water retention of mortar, ensures complete hydration of cement, and reduces (hollowing) and cracking; enhances the smoothness of troweling to improve construction efficiency (e.g., low resistance during scraping and a flat coating).
- Scenarios: Suitable for interior and exterior wall putty, as well as leveling layers of thermal insulation mortar, especially in dry environments or walls with high water absorption.
3. Latex Paint and Coatings
- Function:
- Thickening and Anti-sag: Adjusts the viscosity of coatings to prevent sagging during brushing or rolling (e.g., maintaining uniform thickness on vertical surfaces like ceilings during construction).
- Pigment Dispersion: Stabilizes pigment particles to prevent sedimentation and delamination (e.g., consistent color in colored coatings after long-term storage).
- Dosage: Generally accounts for 0.1%–0.3% of the total coating volume, adjusted according to the formulation's fluidity.
4. Cement-Based Waterproof Materials
- Function: Improves the consistency of the slurry for uniform brushing; enhances the adhesion between the waterproof layer and the base, while improving the impermeability of the cured layer through water retention.
- Applications: Used in waterproof coatings for kitchens and bathrooms, waterproof mortars for underground projects, etc.
5. Gypsum-Based Materials
- Function: In gypsum mortar or joint gypsum, it delays water evaporation, extends the open time (facilitating adjustment of gypsum line shapes), and increases toughness to reduce cracking.
Core Advantages
- Construction-Friendly: Easily dispersible in cold water, no pre-dissolution required, and can be directly dry-mixed into powder materials.
- Environmental Adaptability: Strong alkali resistance (suitable for high-alkaline cement environments) and stable performance at high temperatures (e.g., no impact on material curing during summer construction).
- Cost Optimization: Achieves ideal thickening and water retention effects with minimal addition, reducing the comprehensive cost of cellulose ether-based materials in formulations.
